Having studied photography at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden Ingvar Kenne set off on a global motorcycle journey that spanned two and a half years. That trip culminated in his second monograph ‘Chasing Summer’ and was the catalyst for his permanent migration to Australia. Now a Sydney local his work is part of the permanent collection of The National Portrait Gallery in Canberra and three works selected for the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize at The National Portrait Gallery in London in 2020. @ingvarkenne
Rosie English documents the pull of the ocean and the multicultural population who flock there with the warmth and humility of a local. Her candid depictions of everyday people and unstaged scenes are reminiscent of street photography, only in her work the urban setting is replaced with the beach, the stage in which Australian life so often unfolds.
While travelling German photographer Daniel Müller captured the vastness and unique beauty of our land. Taking from his ‘Strange Bloke’ series (thanks to curious glances he’d receive from onlookers) the images depict the endlessness that drew him in, the humble feeling of being dwarfed by the enormity of an environment.
Australian photographer Nick Prideaux currently calls Paris home. His focus on sunlight and skin aligns with our appreciation of the human form and intimacy. With 35mm film his medium of choice, the labours and imperfections inherent in the analogue process reflect Prideaux’s way of looking at the world, finding small slices of beauty in the sort of moments that might pass others by.
